When you visit our headquarters in Austin, Texas, after we settle on the date, the next conversation is usually focused on where we’ll eat. Without fail, you’ll ask us about the famous Texas barbecue. Because you’re special to us, dear reader, we’re sharing our favorite BBQ spots that you must visit to get your true Texan barbecue experience.
Our favorite Austin BBQ spots will take you on a tour through Austin as well as some of its surrounding cities, including Dripping Springs.
We start off in the heart of downtown Austin with Lambert’s Downtown Barbecue. Lamberts serves up fancy and unique BBQ in the Historic Schneider Brothers Building.
Our next stop takes us to Franklin’s Barbecue. Pull up your lawn chair and get ready to wait for this treat. Franklin’s BBQ has sold out of brisket every day of its existence.
Then we move to Stiles Switch BBQ & Brew. Tiles Switch is known for their no corners cut method and their local and Texas craft brews.
Finally we travel to the outskirts of Austin, to Dripping Springs, Texas to be exact,. Three words: The Salt Lick. This is hands down the best barbeque you will experience. Here you will embrace the Texan BBQ spirit and dig into a little slice of heaven on a very large platter. Make sure to try the brisket, sausage and spare ribs.
If you are adventurous and didn’t get your fill in Austin, you may want to travel about an hour south of Austin to the home of the Alamo. A thrilling new area in the heart of San Antonio is the Pearl Brewery. This is the home of The Granary ‘Cue & Brew and a San Antonio must.
Okay, now your turn … what would you add to our list?
Bon Appetit, Texas style!
